This Podcast needs to come with a warning label because it's too damned addictive. I binged through their entire back catalog in a day and I NEVER. BINGE. SHIT. The story is told in a unique and fascinating new way and they pull it off with a flair of genius. I wish I could engineer sound half as good as these guys.

The Best Parts of Lovecraftian Horror
Malevolent has superbly crafted a story of violence, monsters and mystery. I love the conceit of a Arthur man with a voice in his head, who has exclusive use of the protagonist’s eyes. As Arthur blindly gropes through this world, so do we. Why is the voice bound to him? Why is everyone out to hurt him? As Arthur and the voice navigate the world trying to figure out the mystery, we learn more about the voice. How reliable is he? Who’s he really looking out for? Who is he? The sound production is visceral and creepy and the acting is on point. A winner for anyone strong of mind and of body.
One of the most unique and immersive shows I have ever heard. Incredible dialogue, immense tension, brilliant story-telling, and a way in which there is a narrator to the listener without separating the listener from their immersion into the story. Truly a brilliant idea that was executed to perfection.

One of the Most Immersive Shows Out There!
Beautifully done and legitimately terrifying! I listen to a LOT of horror pods and this is one of the few that scare me. Bravo!

Fantabulous!
This show is absolutely amazing! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the SFX are so good, I’ve had to do the audio equivalent of a double-take when I’m listening. 10/10 would recommend!

an eldritch delight
the story is interesting and exciting, the characters are engaging and fun, and the sound design is stunning!! I was hooked from the first episode and I'm eager for more!

Here's the deal...
The best review I can give for Malevolent is that I listened to about 10-15 seconds of it and got so scared by the sound design I had to turn it off. 5 Stars.

"What if you couldn't trust your eyes"
We've all wondered if the shape of reality is reflected properly in our eyes, that sometimes we feel that we can't trust what we see. What if we take it one step further? In Malevolent, we're introduced to a brilliant premise, that the narrator has lost control of part of their eyesight (or possibly their mind), to an entity that has been forcefully injected their body. In this, our main character needs to trust the words of an otherworldly being, that we, the audience, have to trust this being is accurately portraying every possible relevant detail. But can we? It's a great ride, I really do recommend. Come see atrocities, committed in the name of freeing a mind from a madness it is sure isn't it's own.

You definitely need to listen.
Lovecraftian horror and two guys just sharing a body and being pals? Yelling each other’s’ names? Beautiful music? Lovely voice acting? A very intriguing story so far? I feel like this podcast was made for me, and I love it.

The Best Horror Audio Drama
An incredible mix of a brilliant concept, wonderful execution, and extremely talented sound design. The creator delivers an experience that will pull you into the dark and foreboding world of Malevolent, making it easy to lose yourself in this wonderful story.
Excellently acted with excellent sound design. Amazing for such a small project.
you need to check out this show. seriously! stellar design, writing, and acting work together to create such a perfectly crafted atmosphere. suspenseful, chilling, and haunting in all the wonderfully right ways, malevolent grabs you, pulls you in, and keeps you.
Malevolent is a cosmic horror story with plenty of mysterious twists and turns as the stakes deepen. It is an overall excellent show with strong writing, engaging descriptions, an immersive atmosphere, and interesting characters. Patreon backers receive early access to shorter episodes (compiled later into publicly available content), and can even vote on various decisions at the end of each episode. These choices are woven seamlessly into the overarching story, and the strong writing brings it all together in a way consistent with the characters and direction of the story. The concept, including the use of a sightless character, works really well in this format and serves to create a rich world that I have enjoyed exploring. I started listening to the free content, binged that, and started backing on Patreon because I wanted to hear more. A really delightful and terrifying show.
I started off listening to the first few public episodes of Malevolent. When I caught up, I decided it would be a great time to up my Patreon pledge so I could have access to the weekly episodes for awhile at least. I've enjoyed being a part of the process (and the story itself), that "awhile at least" has become more permanent. Malevolent is an amazingly designed podcast that feels completely immersive even without the voting element. If I wear headphones, I will occasionally jump and turn around because it feels like the thing happened right behind me. But it's more than the sound design that makes this my favorite horror podcast. The writing and voice acting both make the characters feel real and believable, and there's just enough of a sprinkling of lightness to keep it from being *too* tense. While it does heavily feature Lovecraft horrors as the description says, it's definitely without the issues that have kept me from looking into Lovecraft now that I know I like horror. So prospective listeners concerned about that can rest easy.

Literally amazing
It’s a crime that this show doesn’t have more listeners and I can tell that the people behind it are just good at this, like they could make another podcast and have it be just as good. Thank you Apple podcast algorithm for showing me this
Love the scary content. Harlan is great.

Fascinatingly Spoopy
This is a fantastic podcast that makes you sit on the edge of your seat while building incredible suspense and outright fear. It's the right level of twisted and creepy throughout! Lovecraft would be proud :D

It would seem Harlan Guthrie has found the perfect storyline hook for a one man dialogue that takes Arthur and his passenger into the proverbial wolves' den, again and again. Five out of five, and if you haven't subscribed yet, NOW LISTEN HERE ARTHUR

Fantastic
This has become my favourite ongoing podcast. Besides the fascinating premise of a man losing his sight and finding a voice in his head that can use his eyes, the plot is wonderfully mysterious, voice acting is top notch, and sound design is beautiful. Anyone who enjoys horror/mystery/thriller should listen to this.
I've just listened to the first episode of this podcast, and am blown away with the writing and the production. A snappy back and forth between two very different characters, a new take on the Lovecraft mythos to explore and a sinister mystery to solve. Great stuff.

Incredible
This is the best serial podcast I have ever listened to. It’s both terrifying and humanizing at once. The characters are vividly portrayed and the writing is superb. We listen to the episodes more than once and catch something new every time.
Great show with dark atmosphere and superb character voices and sound scape.
This show has some of the most distinct sound design I´ve ever listened to. I immediately immerse myself in this dark and scary world, following Arthur as he tries to solve mysteries and hauntings while being haunted himself. It leaves me feeling like there really is a parallel world where the world is a scary and horrifying place. Welll done!

Lovecraftian Horror at its Absolute Best

This podcast is incredibly well produced, with great acting and sound effects contributing perfectly to the creepy atmosphere. Highly recommended
I am a big fan of audio dramas and this is one that has moved me to the edge my my seat during multiple episodes. If you like the feel of the Call of Cthulhu RPG then you will enjoy this. If you like suspense, you will enjoy this.
This series manages to pull the listener into its atmospheric, dark world in such a clever and compelling way - a brilliant concept, gorgeous sound design (seriously!!!) and voice acting, wonderful writing, and such an obvious love from the creator for stories like this that permeates every aspect of the recording. Seriously, I cannot recommend Malevolent enough - if you enjoy anything spooky and mysterious, or just want to try listening to something new from a creator who puts so much effort into their work, you need not go further than the story of Arthur Lester.
